basic rules and tips which always help you click better pictures, no matter
whether you’re a novice or an experienced photog. Read 10 such great digital
photography tips below.
The Rule of Third
I got to learn of this effective composition rule from a
renowned newborn photographer Los
Angeles. According to her, the ‘Rule of
Thirds’ is one secret you must take advantage of to click those pictures with a
‘wow’ factor.
She explained it in three simple steps.
- Imagine your image crisscrossed with four lines, two lying horizontally and two vertically across the image, creating nine even squares.
- Keep the main subject off the center, preferably at one of the intersecting points.
- It often results in clicking a more aesthetically appealing photograph, especially when you do nature or newborn photography Los Angeles.
Avoid Camera Shaking
While clicking any picture, you cannot afford to have your
camera shaking or blurring. And the best way to avoid is holding the camera
perfectly. Always use both hands, one around the camera body and other circling
the lens.
If you use handheld shooting, check if a shutter speed is in
tandem with your lens’ focal length. Too slow or too fast shutter speed would
hamper the quality, as soon as there is any small movement of the camera. Many professional newborn photographers
are seen deploying tripod or monopod to perfect the setting.
Consider
using a polarizing filter
Using
a polarizing filter makes a huge difference in the photoshoots with water or
sky as the backdrop. Consider circular polarizer as it allows the camera to use
TTL (through the lens) metering such as auto exposure. It works wonder while
you need to reduce reflections from water, and any metal and glass. It can also
be used to enhance the colors of the sky and foliage, and render you picture
that desired Wow factor.
Get Closer to the Subject
“If your photographs aren’t good enough,
you’re not close enough.”
This famous quote
from the renowned photojournalist Robert Capa accentuates the significance of
getting closer to the object.
There is one simple
rule. If you feel your image is not compelling enough, take a step or two close
to the object and fill the frame with the finest aspects of the scene. A good
picture should never have a wasted space in it. Besides, getting closer to the
subject always help capturing the best facial expressions.
Pay Attention to the Light
Lighting is
perhaps the most crucial aspect in photography. Light plays an indispensable
role to highlight the main subject. So when you are behind the camera, be sure
to pay attention to the light around. Observe it attentively, and you start
noticing its presence, the shape it’s forming and the shadows it is creating,
from different angles. Be it nature photography or newborn professional photography, lighting has a significant role
to play.
